Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities plays a vital role in an engineering college catering to the teaching of basic Sciences and Humanities courses for engineering students of all branches. The purpose of applied sciences in Engineering study is to lay a strong foundation of basic principles of various disciplines such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computers, Electronics, Mechanics and Communication Skills in the mind of the learners, so that they proceed to rest of their years of study with up to date knowledge and training of basic engineering skills.
Department is backed by well-educated, talented and dedicated faculty members to fulfill this task. In addition to the primary teaching duties discharged by them, many of them have their publications in National as well as International Journals of repute for attaining perfection in their profession. The subjects taught by teachers of this department are of prime importance for all round growth and development of students.
The students are given personal attention and care by monitoring their academic performance, by conducting improvement classes through peer guided self-study methodology, tutorial classes and regular counseling. Home assignments, quizzes & viva-voce are regularly assigned and conducted as a part of teaching-learning process and to prepare students to face the internal & external examinations. Environmental studies make our students stewards of the environment that sustains us, our families and communities now and in the future. Physics, Chemistry Laboratories have been very well established and well equipped with all the modern gadgets and instruments. Department not only focus to cover the complete syllabus but to motivate students to learn beyond the syllabus which definitely develops complete knowledge of the subject (both the practical and theoretical depth of knowledge).
The Language laboratory is an integral part of the department. It has been established with a definitive objective to improve upon both oral and writing skill through the use of Computers and is in use for language study activities. Valuing the importance of international language, the college has established the Language Communication Laboratory with the mission of imparting training to twenty students at a time. Students get sufficient exposure considering the practical aspect of their learning & training. Moreover, it is planned to impart additional training in different languages such as French and Spanish from next session. Open group discussions and debate are being conducted in the Laboratory. The teacher works as a facilitator during all this process. Really, the lab has proved tremendously in shaping the students basic skills of listening attentively and speaking fluently.
Last, but not the least, the department is deeply engaged into many development activities that are essential for the overall development of students. These activities involve sports & cultural events, club events, etc.
