"The Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities is continuing from the date of its inception with a mission of imparting teaching and promoting implementation of practical aspects of Applied Sciences and Humanities to build a solid foundation as part of the Engineering Education. There is a strong need to build a strong foundation for the prospective and promising Engineers. Our Department is backed by well-educated, talented and dedicated faculty members to fulfill this task. In addition to the primary teaching duties discharged by them, many of them have their publications in National as well as International Journals of repute for attaining perfection in their profession. The subjects taught by teachers of this department are of prime importance for all round growth and development of students. Teachers are always ready to guide their students whenever they are being approached. The Department is carrying a mission to create and disseminate knowledge and tools in intellectual areas at the interfaces between areas of engineering and other core areas of Applied Sciences and Humanities.
The applied science and humanities department is an integral part of engineering course, which include subject like Engg. Physics, Engg. Chemistry, Engg. Mathematics and Communication skill. There are 9 staff members working in this department. The education imparted to the student is effectively carried out by the way of personal attention of the staff members. Similarly the tutorials, class test and extracurricular activities are arranged for the students. Personal attention and care is taken of the students by the way of nominating “The local guardian” for the group of students.
In Applied Sciences (Physics and Chemistry) laboratories are well equipped with all the modern gadgets and instruments. Each practical batch comprises of 30 students with two students working together on one set of equipment. The laboratory manuals and the list of experiments have been displayed in the respective laboratories. Language laboratory
The Language Laboratory having established with a definitive objective to improve upon both oral and writing skill through the use of Computers and is in use for language study activities/tutoring. Valuing the importance of international language, the college has established the Language Communication Laboratory with the mission of imparting training to twenty students at a time.
There is one teacher console and ten student consoles. Teacher console is attached with the sound system in which different language cassettes are being played to train the students in phonetics. There is one projector and computer, through which the visual effect of teaching become alive.
Students are allowed to have practice through the dialogues between the teacher and individual student. International approach is enhanced when the students ask their problems related to pronunciation and accent of different words and their sounds. Main motive of setting the language lab is to make the students prepare for the global and competitive world, where they can meet all the demands related to effective oral communication.
Students get sufficient exposure considering the practical aspect of their learning & training. More hardware is under way for addition to boost the practicing slots. Moreover, it is planned to impart additional training in different languages such as French and Spanish from next session. Open group discussions and debate are being conducted in the Laboratory. Students occupy their seats and speak on the mike. The teacher works as a facilitator during all this process. Really, the lab has proved tremendously in shaping the students’ basic skills of listening attentively and speaking fluently."
